“Why do you have a box labeled calculators?” Jimmy asks, setting my precious box on the undressed twin mattress in the middle of my tiny room.

Goodreads Summary

What do ice cream and Sadie Montgomery have in common? They’re both ice cold, but one taste is never enough.
I wanted to be friends — I would have even settled for her seeing me as anything but a nerd — but there was no getting through. So just like any hard-headed, red-blooded man out there, I made up my mind.
I’d make my coworker fall for me.
I’d like to say it was simple, but like every other epic love story, all it took was one drunken night and a lot of naked courage to get the girl. For a moment, at least.
Love with a coworker is never simple, especially since Sadie’s trying to keep us on the low. Not to mention her persistent ex-boyfriend who won’t leave her alone. But I’ve never been good at giving up, and I don’t plan to start now.
The whole thing is a recipe for a rocky road, but I plan to eat the whole gallon, no matter how bad the brain freeze.

My Review

There is not a single Meghan Quinn book that I have read that I haven’t enjoyed. I swear Meghan and I are long lost twins. Her love of baseball rivals mine and I love when its thrown into her stories. This story is the perfect sundae for me: humor, chemistry, awkwardness, romance, and a hot baseball loving nerd. The best part is knowing that a lot of this story was Meghan and Steph’s real life love story.

Meghan’s writing style completely sucks me in every single time. Its raw and real and I can’t get enough! I’ve never read a book where the main male character is a nerd. Being honest, I am a complete nerd but I never thought I would sit there and drool over a hotter than heck nerd!

Andrew is every nerd girl’s dream guy! With glasses, quirks, and a love of baseball, I couldn’t get enough! I loved how sweet and kind he was at times but then could turn right around and be forceful and dominant as well. To top it all off he has a secret from his past that he is escaping.

Sadie is a moody girl who has a rough background. After a rough year, she isn’t in the mood to deal with new friends or co-workers. Then she gets stuck training Andrew for an entire week; something she’s less than thrilled about. Soon, undeniable feelings and attractions start flying and they quickly become co-wreckers!

If you want a book that will have you drooling over a hot nerd, craving ice cream, and laughing your butt off at times, one-click this one right now!

About Meghan Quinn:

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if “It’s Raining Men” starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.
Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!

The boat loomed before me in the cerulean water of San Juan Bay, Puerto Rico.

Goodreads Summary

I’m scarred. Broken. I’ll never be the same.

But I will take this journey.

Ever since my last dive ended in bloodshed, I’ve been terrified to go back into the water. But the opportunity to spend a semester at sea is too good to pass up. I need to get my life back.

I never expected to love it this much. And I never expected Tristan MacDougall.

Rugged, strong, and with demons of his own, Tristan helps me find the courage I thought I had lost and heals me with every stolen moment we share.  But the rules of the ship mean we can’t be together.

When a dive excursion goes terribly wrong, our only hope for survival is each other.

My Review

I absolutely love the ocean! If I could live in/on the water, I would. I knew that I had to get my hands on this book after reading the blurb. Plus, that cover!? So beautiful! With a forbidden romance, the sea, and a mix of possible suspense/mystery I couldn’t dive in fast enough! The story started off a bit slow for me but once it took off I had a hard time putting it down.

Overcoming your fears can be one of the most challenging parts of life. Many NA novels have this as the center of the story. It was refreshing the way that this was a new take on that theme.

I loved watching Ari overcome so many things and watching her character grow throughout the story. Tristan also has some things to overcome but is always willing to help Ari. Their relationship was fun and at times heart-wrenching. It was enjoyable to watch them come together and help each other come to terms with things from their pasts and move to the future.

The setting was beautifully played out and completely realistic. Beth Anne Miller did a wonderful job of making it seem magical however, also keeping the brunt truth of the less than glamorous side

I can only hope that we will be getting more of these characters! I feel as if we haven’t heard the end of Ari and Tristan’s story!

 Excerpt

He held my hand as we glided slowly around the reef. The euphoria I felt at actually getting under the water faded as I squinted into the distant blue haze, on constant lookout for…anything that might be lurking out there. It was utterly silent, except for the Darth Vader-like sound of our breathing. That was one of the things I’d always loved best about scuba diving, the silence of it. For a short time, I could leave behind the noise of the world above and get lost in the alien world beneath the sea. I’d missed it so much.

My fear began to slip away. The reef was a huge mass of life and motion. Tiny yellow fish nibbled on purple sponges, vividly colored parrotfish pecked at coral with their sharp beaks, blue-and-yellow angelfish swam lazily between sea fans. None of them seemed disturbed by our presence. They just went about their business.

I’d almost forgotten Tristan was there until he tapped my arm and pointed to a big hole in the coral, where a slimy green head emerged on a sinuous neck. It was a moray eel. It stared at us, its mouth opening and closing to reveal glimpses of curved, needle-thin teeth. Novice divers tended to be afraid of them because their teeth looked wicked sharp. But I’d been around them enough to know that they opened and closed their mouths to breathe, not to be aggressive (usually), and I watched it for a moment, unafraid.

We continued exploring, my eyes remembering how to see beyond the camouflage to find the animal. A crusty “rock” sitting on the bottom was a scorpionfish. A mound of sand turned out to be a flounder. I still searched the blue waters around us, but less frequently than before. I even let go of Tristan’s hand.

Then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a flash of silver. My heart started to pound. Take it easy, it’s probably a barracuda.

No, it wasn’t. Barracuda usually just hovered motionless in the water, seemingly menacing with their protruding teeth, but generally harmless to humans. This was moving quickly. And it was big. Where’d it go? I spun around.

There it was again, lurking just at the edge of my vision. Oh God, not again! Hiss-whoosh, hiss-whoosh. My breath came faster and faster.

I needed to get out of there.

About Beth Anne Miller:

Beth Anne Miller’s first book, written in elementary school, was bound in pink fabric and was about—what else?—a girl and her horse. She soon began cheating on horses with the sea, becoming an open water scuba diver at age 14. That love of the sea led her to a college semester aboard a schooner. She returned with fond memories of the exhilaration of being on a ship under full sail, less fond memories of hurling over the leeward rail on a daily basis, and a sailing bug she couldn’t quite shake.

In addition to horses and the sea, she has a fascination for all things Scottish (including, but not limited to, men in kilts), which she explored with her first novel, INTO THE SCOTTISH MIST (The Wild Rose Press, 2011), and carried into her new novel, A STAR TO STEER HER BY (Entangled Embrace, March 2017). A native New Yorker, Beth Anne works in the publishing industry and is always looking ahead to her next voyage, whether a short one on a dive boat or whale watch, or, with luck, a longer one on a tall ship.

Goodreads Summary

We fell in love on a beach, got married in paradise, and I carried her off into the sunset. It should have been perfect, but saying “I do” doesn’t guarantee a happily-ever-after.

Two years later, I barely recognize either of us behind the walls we’ve built.

It’s time to bring it full circle. Back to a tropical paradise. Back to find out if we can still make this work.

I’m not willing to give her up, but to save us, I have to risk everything.

YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK!

No, seriously why are you still reading this review? Go one-click this baby right this second!

This book was a swift punch to the gut full of emotions. It was a unique yet relatable passionate romance story and It took me completely by surprise!

I went in not knowing too much. I had read the blurb when I first asked to review. Once receiving, and hearing multiple warnings about not giving away spoilers, I knew I had to go straight back into it without knowing or remembering anything! I am so extremely glad that I did!! I highly recommend you do the same thing!

Kat and Dane were absolutely the best! Don’t even get me started on Meghan March’s writing. It was flawless. The transitions were beautiful and the pace of the story kept me hooked (and getting in trouble for reading at work) until I was spit out completely gutted.

If you want an amazing, fast paced read, grab this one up right now!!

The small town of Eastbrook boasts a population of only four hundred residents.

Goodreads Summary

Rain soaked and dreary, it was a 1901 abandoned Victorian that newlyweds Dean and Elizabeth Montgomery hoped would fulfill their dreams of a new start in life, even if the town of Eastbrook, Maine was nestled under a constant blanket of fog.
The first neighbor the couple meets dashes those hopes when he raises a bizarre question: what happened to the last person who lived in their house? A cryptic question, but nothing to worry about. At least not until the couple looked under the floorboards inside the house.
Under mounting pressure from the residents of Eastbrook to stop questioning the past, Dean and Elizabeth are driven deeper into the history of the house, the town, and their neighbors. When the couple discovers what happened in Eastbrook, keeping the secret could save their lives, but uncovering the truth might be worth the risk.
What happened inside The Empty Room is a mystery until the last page. A gripping psychological suspense, the story takes readers on a cat-and-mouse game where some secrets are better off hidden.

My Review

After reading so many romance books lately it was nice to have a touch of Halloween in March. It was an interesting take on the genre of mystery.

After nearly running over Elizabeth, Dean and she marry a few months later. To start their newlywed life, they leave the hustle and bustle of the city and buy an old Victorian in Eastbrook, Maine. Little do they know what they have gotten themselves into. The previous tenant rushed out leaving even dirty dishes in the sink. They were very likable characters and I got invested in them fairly quickly.

Not wanting to give too much away, there are two mysteries that are unraveled across the story. The supporting characters were full of pieces to the story. It was very interesting to watch the pieces fall into place. I was anxious to get to the end and find out the truth behind the house, much like Dean and Elizabeth were.

I enjoyed the overall plot of this book but it was much to slow paced for me. I wanted a faster, close to heart stopping pace. I also would have enjoyed more communication and dialogue between the characters. I feel as if this would have in turn quickened the pace of the story. With that said, the ending shocked me. I wasn’t expecting that at all and would have enjoyed a different style of ending much better.

I don’t care what they say, forty is not the new twenty.

Goodreads Summary

I’m Emerson, and my “to do” list is longer than I’d like. You might wonder what kind of woman comes up with a sex bucket list? Answer — the kind who’s been in a sex drought, has two crazy girlfriends encouraging her, and one too many bottles of wine.

This kind of list requires special skill. And I have just the man in mind to help me. He’s younger. So that checks one thing off my list. And he’s the kind of man every woman should sleep with at least once in her life. The kind of man who knows his way around a woman’s body. And God, I’d like him to know mine.

Armed with new lingerie and a fancy high-tech vibrator, I’m taking charge. Of love, of life, and my libido. How hard can that be? Well, judging by the rate of pole dancing injuries, I might be in trouble.

But how much trouble can one woman get in? Giving your panties to a stranger isn’t illegal in Georgia, is it?

Grab a pen and make your own Sex Bucket List!

My Review

I must admit, I was a little leery about this book going in. I was interested by the blurb but wasn’t quite sure of what to expect. I thought maybe it would be a romantic comedy but I wasn’t expecting the heartfelt, realistic side. This story is definitely a winner in my book!

I make as many lists as the next person but never once have I thought to make a Sex Bucket List. This was such a fun idea and the way Prescott Lane was able to weave in such raw and real emotion in. I loved Emerson, an over 40 divorcée, mom of 3, and head of the marketing department in her family’s airline company, but is now trying to focus a little more on herself. She is strong and real! Her emotions are relatable and no, I’m not a mom yet but I see mom guilt in some of my friends faces all the time. Mateo, was so amazingly swoony! He’s the kind of man every woman wants, sweet yet sexy!

Emerson is finally starting to move on with her life and live a little more for herself when drama unfolds. Will she continue to live for herself?

The secondary characters in this story were fantastic! I loved reading about them. I can only hope that we get books about them especially Dash and Poppy!

A Few of My Favorite Quotes

“That’s the role as the man in your life. To guard your heart.”

“When you’re young and use the “L” word, it’s a lot simpler. I think love in general is simpler when we’re young.”

“People are like puzzles. Everyone has certain edges, some sharper than others, and some pieces fit together, and some just don’t. Some are certainly easier to figure out than others. And just like a puzzle, you can break them in a second, but it takes a lot longer to put them together.”

“But there’s a difference between loving someone and belonging with someone.”

 Excerpt

Our kiss is hard and rough, and it has my legs clenching together.  His hands go to my ass, pulling my dress up slightly, lifting me up onto the edge of my desk, grinding against me.  Wearing a wrap dress today was a good call.  I usually wear wrap dresses because they are no fuss, add a nice cinch to my waist, and feel like pajamas.  Easy access wasn’t one of the reasons, but I’m thankful for it now.

Wrestling with his shirt, I yank it out of his pants, desperate to feel his skin under my fingertips.  His tongue finds my neck, and he kisses a path along my collarbone.  I thrust against every hard inch of him.  He pulls on the tie of my dress, and I wrap my legs around his waist.  Picking me up, he pushes me up against the floor-to-ceiling window.

I can’t remember the last time a guy banged me up against a wall, or a window, for that matter.  This is a perk of being with a younger man.  Am I really going to do this?  In my office?  In the middle of the day?  He must feel my hesitation because he lowers my legs to the ground, flipping me towards the window, his hard dick pushing up against my ass, his warm breath tickling my neck.

He whispers in my ear, “Number 19.  Orgasm in a public place.  I’m saying this counts.”  I look down the few stories to the busy Atlanta street, the neighboring building.  Roughly, he forces my legs apart with his foot then reaches his hand between my legs and pushes my panties to the side.  “Your list belongs to me,” he says, his voice hard.
